Yes, you can absolutely use your Kotak credit card internationally. When I went on a trip to Europe, I used my Kotak card for pretty much everything – hotels, dining, shopping – and had no issues. Just make sure your card is activated for international transactions, which you can do by calling Kotak customer care at 1860 266 2666 or by checking your account settings online.
One thing I didn’t realize at first is that there’s a foreign transaction fee (usually around 3.5%) that gets added to each transaction. It’s not huge, but it can add up if you’re doing a lot of spending abroad, so just keep that in mind.
Also, it’s a good idea to inform Kotak about your travel plans in advance, so they don’t flag your card for suspicious activity when you start swiping it abroad. You can easily do that through net banking or by calling them. Trust me, it saves you the headache of getting your card blocked while you’re away.
If you’re traveling to places that have different currencies, it’s worth noting that currency conversion will apply, but you’ll still get the benefit of your rewards points.
