How much is the annual fee for the Kotak PVR Credit Card? Are there any fee waivers available, and does the card justify its cost in the long run?
When I first looked at the Kotak PVR Credit Card, I was curious about the annual fee since that’s usually a dealbreaker for me. So, here’s what I found:
- Gold Variant: ₹499 + GST (around ₹590 total per year)
- Platinum Variant: ₹999 + GST (around ₹1,180 total per year)
The catch? There are no waivers on these fees, no matter how much you spend. A lot of cards, especially those in the movie or entertainment category, offer fee waivers if you hit a certain spending threshold, but this one doesn’t. So, if you get this card, you’re paying the fee every year—even if you hit all the targets for free movie tickets.
Now, if you’re someone who regularly spends ₹10,000–₹15,000 a month, you’ll probably get your money’s worth in free PVR tickets. For example, with the Gold Variant, you get up to ₹800 worth of movie tickets per month, which totals ₹9,600 per year. That means you’re paying ₹590 for ₹9,600 in movie tickets. So, in theory, that’s a great return if you use all the tickets.
The Platinum Variant gives you ₹9,600 in tickets for ₹1,180 in fees, which isn’t bad either. But, again, you have to be sure you’re using those tickets every month to make the card worthwhile.
For me, though, the lack of a fee waiver really bugged me. Other cards like the Axis My Zone or SBI Elite at least give you a chance to get the fee waived if you hit a spending target. Here, you’re stuck paying the fee every year.
Bottom line? If you’re consistently hitting the spending targets and always using the free tickets, then yes, the card can pay off. But if there’s even a chance you won’t use all the tickets or you want a card with a fee waiver option, this one might not be the best long-term choice.
