I recently signed up for Taj InnerCircle, and I see there are four membership tiers—Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. What are the spending requirements to move up to a higher tier, and what extra benefits do I get at each level? For example, at what level do I start getting room upgrades, free breakfast, or lounge access?
Taj InnerCircle has four membership tiers—Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—each with its own perks and spending requirements. When I first signed up, I was automatically at the Copper level, which honestly doesn’t give you much. But if you stay at Taj hotels even occasionally, moving up is pretty doable.
Here’s how the tiers work:
- Copper (Entry-level): You get this as soon as you sign up. No major benefits, just the ability to earn and redeem points.
- Silver (4 nights or ₹40,000 spend in a year): You start getting 5% bonus points on stays and dining, which isn’t bad if you stay at Taj properties a couple of times a year.
- Gold (10 nights or ₹4 lakh spend in a year): This is where things get better—10% bonus points, priority check-in, early check-in/late check-out, and occasional room upgrades. If you have the SBI Elite Credit Card, you get automatic Gold status without even hitting these spending targets.
- Platinum (40 nights or ₹8 lakh spend in a year): The real VIP treatment. 15% bonus points, guaranteed suite upgrades once a year, lounge access, and even a complimentary room night every year. If you stay at Taj hotels regularly, this is the status you want.
How do you upgrade? It’s all based on your total spends or number of stays in a calendar year. So, if you stay 10 nights in a year, you’ll move up to Gold, and if you go big with 40+ nights, you’ll hit Platinum. The alternative is just spending a lot at Taj hotels—₹8 lakh in a year will get you Platinum even if you don’t stay that many nights.
Personally, I got Gold status with my SBI Elite Card, and while Platinum looks amazing, it’s definitely for frequent travelers or business folks who stay in Taj hotels all the time. If you’re aiming for an upgrade, strategic spending on Taj dining, spa services, and stays can help you move up faster.

Taj InnerCircle (Taj Epicure) has four tiers: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. You start at Copper, and as your yearly spend increases, so do your perks.
Silver (₹1 lakh/year) gives early check-in and room upgrades. Gold (₹3 lakh) adds better upgrades and bonus points. Platinum (₹5 lakh) includes free breakfast, spa discounts, and top-tier benefits. Upgrades are automatic based on 12-month spending. For the best perks, aim for Gold or Platinum.
