What steps should be followed to close or permanently cancel the credit card?

You can close your HDFC MoneyBack Credit Card by:

  • Calling HDFC Bank’s customer care
  • Submitting an online request
  • Using the HDFC Bank virtual assistant, EVA
  • Visiting an HDFC Bank branch
  • Sending a completed application form by post

By calling customer care

  1. Call HDFC Bank’s customer care at 1800 202 6161 or 1860 267 6161
  2. Request to cancel the credit card
  3. Provide your credit card number and the reason for closing it

By submitting an online request

  1. Log in to HDFC NetBanking
  2. Submit a request to close your credit card
  3. Provide your registered mobile number
  4. Enter the OTP you receive
  5. Select the credit card you want to close
  6. Select a reason for closing the card
  7. Authenticate with the OTP

By using EVA

  1. Type “credit card closure”
  2. Provide your registered mobile number
  3. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
  4. Enter the last four digits of your credit card number
  5. Choose why you’re closing your credit card

By visiting an HDFC Bank branch

  1. Submit a completed Credit Card Closure Form

By clearing Outstanding Dues

Make sure that all outstanding balances, EMIs, or fees on the card are fully paid.

By redeeming Reward Points

You may use any remaining reward points before cancellation, as they will be forfeited.

Request Cancellation

Use the registered mobile number to get in touch with HDFC Credit Card Customer Support.
Via the official HDFC Bank website, submit a cancellation request using the email address you registered with.
Send a letter to HDFC Bank Ltd., Manager, Credit Card Division, PO Box 8654, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai - 600041 with your name, card details, and contact information.

By cutting & Disposing of the Card

To avoid misuse, cut the card into many pieces after cancellation is confirmed, paying particular attention to the chip and magnetic stripe.

Getting Confirmation

Ask HDFC Bank for a written/email confirmation that the card has been permanently closed.

By checking Credit Report

You can check your credit report after a few weeks to make sure the status is “Closed” and there are no outstanding debts.
