Earlier it used to give straightforward cashback of 2%, but now I’ve heard there are convenience fees, GST on those fees, and some limits on cashback.
So the effective .36% charge that we were enjoying has changed i guess from the past few months and also there is convience introduce…So did some here found a other way round here?
As far as I know amazon only charges 2.36% for loading money that to on credit cards, In my personal experience I haven’t seen any extra charges like convenience fees etc.
But still if you get any more charges do try to contact their customer care for help
There is a convenience fee of 2% and .36% GST but you get 2% as cashback. So effectively, you pay 0.36% on loading your amazon pay wallet using the amazon pay ICICI card.
There are, however, limits on how much you can load. Amazon has recently notified new rules around the APAY credit card and there is a limit of 10,000 on loading the wallet each month.
Earlier loading Amazon Pay wallet with the ICICI Amazon Pay credit card was a sweet deal because the 2 percent cashback minus the 1.64 percent plus GST load fee worked out to around 0.36 percent effective charge. But Amazon changed it recently. Now there is a convenience fee with GST on top and cashback does not apply the same way on wallet loads. The result is you end up paying more than you earn back, so the old trick of cheap wallet loading is basically gone. The card is still good for Amazon shopping and bill payments but not really for wallet top ups anymore.
Yep, you’re right, Amazon Pay wallet loads with the ICICI Amazon Pay credit card doesn’t give you the kind of benefits of 2% cashback like it used to be. Now there’s a convenience fee + GST, which reduces the cashback, so the net benefit will turn into a cost only. If you’re just adding money to wallets, then UPI or direct spends might work out better than chasing this hack you mentioned, Shivam.
