Cardholder did a transaction in 10 online merchants and didn’t get cashback as per the 5% cashback feature?
If a cardholder made a transaction with the 10 online merchants eligible for the 5% cashback feature and didn’t receive cashback, it could be due to the following reasons:
- Exceeded Monthly Cashback Cap: The ₹1,000/month cap on 5% cashback may have been reached for that month.
- Incorrect Transaction Category: The merchant or transaction type may not qualify for the 5% cashback category.
- Payment Mode: Cashback may not apply if the payment was made via EMI or wallet reloads.
- Eligibility Requirements: Ensure the merchant is part of the approved list for the 5% cashback category (check HDFC’s official terms).
- Delayed Posting: Cashback may take some time to reflect in the account after the transaction.
Check your transaction details and the terms, or contact HDFC customer support for clarification!
Possible Reasons that you Didn’t Get 5% Cashback
Merchant Category Issue – Certain payments (such as Amazon Pay balance loads and Swiggy Instamart) might not fall under the category of eligible transactions.
Transaction Below ₹2,000 - Your transaction will not be eligible if it was less than ₹2,000.
The highest amount of cashback that can be earned in a given month is ₹1,000. You won’t receive 5% cashback on further transactions if you’ve already earned this.
EMI Transaction Done via Third Party – Cashback might not be credited if you chose EMI through merchant EMI (not HDFC Bank EMI option).
Card Payment via Wallets – You will not receive cashback if you paid with Paytm, PhonePe, or Amazon Pay wallet
Transaction Type Excluded – No cashback on government payments, rent payments, insurance, wallet loading, or fuel.
