American Express Platinum Charge Card: How to Apply Online, Eligibility Criteria, Documents Required & Approval Timeline in India

I frequently travel and enjoy luxury hotel stays. I’ve read about the Amex Platinum Charge Card (Platinum Card) in India but not sure how to apply, what eligibility rules to meet, or how smooth the application actually is. Anyone here recently applied and can share their experience?

American Express Platinum Charge Card Eligibility Criteria:

I made my application about two months back. This is the list of what influenced directly my approval:

  • It has to be an Indian resident and should be 18 years old or over.

  • Suggested salary of 25-30 Lakh+ and self-employed 15 Lakh+ annually

  • Credit score ideally 750+ with clean payment history. My score was around 760 and approval was smooth

  • The card will require the holder to have savings or current bank account in India and Amex cards are available in only the select Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities

  • He or she should preferably already have a prior card relationship with Amex or a high spending job on existing Amex card though their presence is not essential

How I Applied for the Platinum Card Online:

no third-party websites to fill out an application- only the American express website.
The whole system was online and buys less than 10mins:

  • Entered and searched the URL of Platinum Charge Card and submitted the apply form
  • plugged in personal information such as PAN, mobile number, income, email
  • e-KYC completed in seconds
  • Submitted 2 salary slips of 2 months and last 3 months bank statement
  • then I added a digital passport-size photograph
  • There are no visits to branches or paperwork necessary

Documents Required for American Express Platinum Charge Card:

when applying online, they requested the following:

  • PAN Card
  • Aadhaar Card (id and address proof)
  • The two recent payslips
  • Last 3 months Bank statement
  • A digital upload of one passport size photograph.

Approval Process and Card Delivery:

My documents were verified the following day after submission of documents The time of approval was approximately 2 working days. The tangible card arrived at my address in 6-days. It is possible to check your status on the South Indian Bank site using the mobile number or application ID.

Rightnow AMEX are not issuing Credit cards, and there is good chance that it might sell its business to Indian banks like what Citi did and sold it to Axis back then
