Axis Bank to close new applications for the Atlas Credit Card!

Multiple sources are reporting that Axis Bank will not be accepting new applications for Axis Atlas Credit Card from Sept. 1. If it is true, you have time till 31st August to apply for this card.

About Axis Atlas Credit Card-

  • The Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card is a premium travel-focused credit card designed for frequent flyers and high spenders who want to maximize their travel rewards.
  • It comes with a joining and annual fee of ₹5,000 (plus GST) and offers a welcome benefit of 2,500 EDGE Miles on the first transaction. Cardholders earn 2 EDGE Miles per ₹100 spent on regular purchases and 5 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on travel-related spends such as airline and hotel bookings (capped at ₹2 lakh per month).
  • The card follows a tiered reward structure Silver, Gold, and Platinum based on annual spends, offering milestone bonuses and enhanced benefits like increased domestic and international lounge access. Redemption options are highly flexible, as EDGE Miles can be used for travel bookings on the Axis Travel Edge portal (where 1 mile = ₹1) or transferred to multiple airline and hotel partners. Additional perks include dining discounts, complimentary lounge access, milestone rewards, and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. However, the high annual fee, reward exclusions (like insurance, utilities, or fuel), and redemption charges are factors to consider. Overall, this card is best suited for travelers who can take full advantage of its lounge benefits, milestone bonuses, and international transfer partners.

This will be bad if happens.

Atlas is one of the best card for moderate to heavy spenders in India and has stayed true to its status and relevance even after so many devaluations. The annual fee of 5000 is in the sweet spot and the benefits have always been on the better side and on par with the magnus card, if not better.

I feel axis will have to make up for it by launching another allround card and this will be a blow to the segment of credit card users who relied heavily on Axis atlas for all kinds of purchases
