Hyatt has increased the cost of points (by 8%), so the post per point seems higher, and the rupee depreciation also doesn’t help
Hyatt has just announced the changes to the award category for the next year and as usual, many properties have moved up a category (some have gotten lower too)
It depends on how you plan to use them. If you’re redeeming points for high-end properties or during peak travel times, it can still be a great deal compared to cash rates. For example, Park Hyatt Maldives or Alila Villas Uluwatu can offer outsized value when booked with points. Have you checked the points vs. cash comparison for your preferred hotel?
Unfortunately, many properties have moved up a category, which means they’ll cost more points per night. A few have gone down, but the overall trend is making redemptions pricier. It’s a good idea to book now if you’re eyeing a property that’s increasing in price.
