I usually use IMPS for quick transactions through my SBI account. Can I also pay my advance tax using IMPS, or do I need to use another specific payment mode provided by SBI for tax payments?
I also prefer IMPS for instant payments, so I looked into whether it can be used for advance tax. Currently, SBI does not allow IMPS for paying advance tax. Instead, you can pay through Net Banking (Internet Banking), Debit Card, RTGS, or NEFT using SBI’s e-Tax services.
The Income Tax Department has integrated with authorized banks like SBI to make advance tax payments easier through the TIN 2.0 portal. I personally found Net Banking to be the smoothest option, since it directly connects to the tax portal and generates a challan instantly.
