Has anyone actually used Tata AIG travel insurance?Planning Trip next month

Planning a Europe trip next month and visa requires travel insurance.Tata AIG keeps popping up everywhere and their rates seem decent - around ₹2,500 for 15 days, €50k coverage.

But you know how it is with insurance companies in India - they’re all angels until you need to claim something. Then suddenly every document is wrong, every clause has a sub-clause, and you’re left holding the bag.

I’ve used Tata AIG many time - I have used once for a Thailand trip in 2022 and again for Dubai last year. Here’s my brutally honest experience:

Trip 1 - Thailand (Medical Emergency):

  • What happened: Food poisoning, hospitalized for 2 days
  • Claim amount: ₹85,000
  • Time to settle: 18 days after submitting documents
  • Experience: Surprisingly smooth. Called their 24/7 helpline, they arranged cashless treatment. Hospital coordinator handled everything.

Trip 2 - Dubai (Flight Delay):

  • What happened: 8-hour flight delay, missed connecting flight
  • Claim amount: ₹12,000 (hotel + meals)
  • Time to settle: 12 days
  • Experience: Needed proper receipts and airline confirmation. No hassles.
