I just bought an HP Pavilion 14 at a student discount, and the seller mentioned I need to register it on HP’s student portal. Has anyone done this before? How does the process work?
HP follows a slightly weird approach with the student discount in India where the vendor offers the student discount after you have registered as a student on the new laptop and the same has been verified by HP.
So if you are buying an HP laptop, you will need to pay the whole amount upfront, register as a student using the device serial number and then wait for HP to verify your student status. Once that is done, you can then claim the student discount from the vendor that you purchased the laptop from.
you went with an hp pavilion? man for that price you could’ve grabbed a lenovo legion 5 or acer nitro 5 with way better graphics and thermals, or even a dell g15 which runs circles around the pavilion in performance. asus tuf series also gives you more bang for the buck. the pavilion looks fine on the outside but spec for spec it’s weak compared to those alternatives. Anyways
go to the hp education store website, choose the student program, and create an account with your .edu email. they’ll send you a verification link to confirm you’re a student. once that’s done, you can browse the catalog where the discounted prices are shown automatically. at checkout the system applies the student pricing without you needing a coupon. if for some reason your email doesn’t verify, you can also upload a scanned copy of your student id or a bonafide certificate and hp support will approve it manually.
Yeah, I’ve gone through this with my HP laptop. The process is pretty simple — you just go to the HP Student Store portal, sign up with your details, and register your laptop using the serial number (you’ll find it on the box or bottom of the laptop). They’ll usually ask you to upload proof of student status (like your college ID or admission letter). Once verified, your student discount benefits and warranty/offer get linked to your account. Takes just a couple of days to get approval.
Instead of all this go and buy laptop from a different manufacturers like lenovo, dell, Apple etc
You will be better of
damn this is also true
