How much coverage is available under MJPJAY 2025?

My family in Maharashtra has an MJPJAY card. I wanted to know what the current maximum claim limit is. How much financial coverage does the scheme provide per year?

As of 2025, the financial coverage available under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) has been significantly increased. Each eligible family is entitled to a total health insurance cover of ₹5 lakh per family, per policy year.

The Increased Coverage Limit of ₹5 Lakh

My friend, whose parents are covered under MJPJAY in their village near Pune, recently confirmed this positive update. He mentioned that the previous coverage limit was lower, but the state government has now enhanced the scheme to align with the national Ayushman Bharat program, providing every beneficiary family with a substantial ₹5 lakh of coverage annually.

How the ‘Family Floater’ System Works

I was explaining how this limit works to a relative who lives in Mumbai. The ₹5 lakh is a ‘family floater’ limit. This means it is a single, shared pool of funds that all registered members of the family unit can use for their hospitalization needs throughout the year. It is important to know that it is not ₹5 lakh for each individual member.

No Limit on the Number of Claims

My friend’s mother had a surgery earlier in the year which cost around ₹1.5 lakh. Later in the same year, his father needed to be hospitalized for a different ailment. He was relieved to learn that there is no limit on the number of claims within the year. They were able to use the remaining ₹3.5 lakh balance for his father’s treatment, and the process was completely cashless.
