How to block UPI ID if phone is lost

Hello everyone, If my mobile gets stolen, what steps should I take immediately to block or disable my UPI ID?

Recently, one of friend lost their phone and he did this to block his UPI.

Steps to Block Your UPI ID if Phone is Lost

  • Every UPI ID is linked to your bank account so you can call your bank’s customer care immediately and ask them to block UPI services for your account. They can temporarily disable UPI so no transaction goes through.

  • if you’re not able to call then visit your nearest branch and give your account details and request UPI deactivation.

  • You can also call your mobile operator and ask them to block your Sim. This helps to prevent fraudsters from receiving OTPs or SMS alerts.

  • Apps such as Google Pay, Phonepe etc have 24×7 helplines. Tell them your phone is lost and they’ll deactivate your UPI I’d linked with that app.

  • if phone was stolen then file a police complaint as this helps in case of misuse.
