I have a question. How do you usually pay your property tax in India like through online portal, bank, or local office?

Paying property tax in India is not very tough but it depends on where you live. Nowadays, most cities and towns give both online and offline options.
Online Payment
- Visit your cityβs municipal corporation website. For example, Greater Chennai Corporation: (https://chennaicorporation.gov.in/gcc/online-payment/property-tax)
- Look for the βProperty Taxβ or βOnline Paymentβ section
- Enter your Property ID or Bill Number (often found on old receipts)
- Check your details like name, property address, and the amount due
- Pay using net banking, UPI, debit or credit card
- Download and save the receipt instantly
Offline Payment
- Go to your nearest municipal/ward office
- Carry your property details or previous tax receipt
- Fill up the form if required
- Pay the tax in cash, cheque, or demand draft
- Collect the stamped receipt as proof Through Banks or CSC Centers
Some cities allow property tax payment at certain banks or government Common Service Centres (CSCs)
Tips
- Always pay before the due date to avoid late fees or penalties
- Keep your old receipts safe for future reference
- If you shift house, update your property details with the municipal office
well, the easiest way is to pay online it saves time, avoids queues, and gives you proof right away.
