I paid at a roadside samosa seller through Rupay cc on UPI and he was having fuel MCC. Axis Bank applied fuel surcharge and GST on fuel surcharge. All the transactions were less than Rs.100.
I raised a complaint against Paytm on consumer forum and they resolved my issue after few days. They reversed the charges.
- Check your bank statements specially of rupay CCs if you pay through UPI for any such incorrect charges.
How did you submit proofs for the consumer forum that the shop is a samosa seller. Did you just mention that to them in the complaint or added any supporting info?
I submitted 3 files: Samosa seller Paytm QR photo, my Axis Bank rupay cc statement and the email response from Axis Bank on my complaint. I also mentioned the UPI transaction IDs for those transactions in the complaint on consumer forum.
Firstly when I raised a complaint with Axis Bank customer support, their response on my complaint mentioned that they can’t do anything as the MCC was fuel and they have to follow the rules of surcharge and they mentioned to reach out to Paytm.
It’s the duty of Paytm to do the merchant verification. How can they give fuel MCC to any merchant without even verifying?
NCH . The only problem is that they don’t cross verify anything. If the merchant replies that the issue is resolved, they’ll mark the complaint as closed without checking so the merchant can technically lie. Happened with me twice but paytm wouldn’t risk that.
I wonder if paytm actually contacted the merchant and changed the MCC
