Hey folks, I was checking out the Scapia Credit Card and got a bit confused about the eligibility. Is it only meant for salaried individuals, or can self-employed people also apply for it? If anyone has applied recently, could you share your experience with approval?
I got the Scapia Credit Card about 5 months back and honestly, the eligibility thing confused me too at first. I’m self-employed (freelance marketing stuff) and was worried they’d reject me since most cards want that steady salary slip. But Scapia actually accepts both salaried and self-employed folks, though their requirements are pretty different for each category.
When I applied, they were running some special campaigns (easier approval or lower income requirements) for certain professions, but the basic eligibility stayed the same for most people.
| What they actually wanted from me | Salaried people | Self-employed people | My actual experience as freelancer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Income proof (How much you make monthly) | ₹30k salary slips | ₹25k average income | Had to show 6 months bank statements |
| Documentation (Paperwork they demanded) | Standard stuff | ITR, bank statements | Way more paperwork than my HDFC card |
| Age requirements (How old you need to be) | 21-65 years | 25-65 years | They were stricter about age for self-employed |
| Credit score (CIBIL and all that boring stuff) | 750+ preferred | 750+ required | Mine was 780 so this part was fine |
| Processing time (How long they took to decide) | 3-5 working days | 7-10 working days | Took them 8 days to approve mine |
Random stuff I figured out during my application:
- They wanted way more documents from me compared to salaried applicants - bank statements, ITR, business proof, the works.
- My approval took longer than my salaried friend who applied the same week.
- They called me twice to verify my income source and ask about my freelance work.
- The credit limit they gave me was slightly lower than what my salaried friends got with similar income.
So basically: Scapia takes both salaried and self-employed people, but if you’re self-employed like me, be ready for more paperwork, longer wait times, and probably more verification calls still got approved though, so it’s definitely possible.
