Honestly, I got the Kotak PVR Credit Card thinking it would be a great deal since I watch a lot of movies. The idea of getting free PVR tickets every month sounded like a no-brainer. But after using it for a while, I realized there are a few things they don’t tell you upfront.
So, the Gold variant gives you 1 free ticket if you spend ₹10,000 in a month and 2 tickets if you hit ₹15,000. The Platinum version is slightly better—you get 2 tickets for spending ₹10,000. Each ticket is capped at ₹400, which sounds fine until you try booking something like IMAX or Gold Class and realize—oops, your “free” ticket doesn’t even cover the full price.
At first, I thought, “Okay, I spend more than ₹10,000 a month anyway, so this is basically free movie tickets.” But here’s the problem: You HAVE to spend that amount every month. Miss it by even ₹1, and you get nothing—no rollover, no partial benefit, just nothing. I had a couple of months where I spent ₹9,900, and Kotak was like, “Too bad, no movie for you.”
Also, I started comparing this with other movie cards, and honestly, I feel like BOGO offers on Axis My Zone or SBI Elite are way easier to use. With those, you don’t have to track your spending—just book and get a discount whenever you want.
So, if you’re a hardcore PVR fan and can reliably spend ₹10K every month, this card might work for you. But if you want more flexibility, especially for premium formats, I’d say look at other options. I still use it, but I’ve learned to be super careful about my spending—because missing that threshold even once is frustrating as hell.
