Hey Finanjo Fam… I keep seeing ads for ICICI Pocket wallet everywhere but honestly, I’m skeptical. We already have Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay - do we really need another digital wallet?
My cousin swears by it and keeps flexing about some cashback he got, but I’m wondering if it’s actually worth downloading or just another app taking up space on my phone.
Honestly, it really depends on your use case. For some people, ICICI Pockets might actually serve a purpose—but for most of us already deep into the GPay/PhonePe/Amazon Pay ecosystem, it just feels unnecessary. In my opinion, ICICI Pockets is more of a niche wallet than a daily driver.
If you’re a student or just want a prepaid VISA card to control online spending without linking your main bank account, it kinda makes sense. The fact that it doesn’t require an ICICI account is a plus too. But beyond that? Meh.
When you already have full-fledged UPI apps that offer better cashback, smoother UI, and credit card support, Pockets feels underwhelming. Unless ICICI rolls out some seriously good loyalty rewards or lets you load the wallet via credit cards, it’s one of those apps you try out, poke around, and then quietly uninstall a week later.
Just my two paisa.
