Best is to avoid any offline payments like cash or cheque, these are charged plus time delay.
If you have HDFC acc already it’s best to setup Autopay or you could use HDFC Netbanking/Mobile App. If you don’t have HDFC acc, NEFT or UPI is go to since they’re fast with no charges.
You can also look for cashbacks at HDFC SmartPay or could see available cashback offers at diff platforms like Cred App / Amazon Pay / Paytm / Mobikwik.

The preferred way according to me would be to pay through Cred or Cheq. These apps keep a track of your last date as well as provide you rewards for credit card bill payment. You can also pay through HDFC Smartpay and get rewards. I heard some debit cards also give cashback on credit card bill payment
