I am flying domestically from Bangalore soon. I see references to both the “BLR Domestic Lounge” and the “080 Lounge.” Which one is the better lounge to use?
This is a common point of confusion due to recent changes at the airport. The 080 Lounge is the new and better lounge because it has actually replaced the older “BLR Domestic Lounge.” The 080 Lounge is a completely renovated and upgraded facility, offering a superior experience in the same location.
The Transition from the ‘BLR Lounge’ to the ‘080 Lounge’
I was talking to a friend who is a very frequent flyer from Bangalore. He explained that a few years ago, the lounge, which was operated by a third party and known as the ‘BLR Lounge’, was taken over by the airport’s in-house management. After an extensive renovation, it was relaunched under the new “080” branding. So, you are not choosing between two different lounges; the 080 Lounge is the new version of the old one.
Why the 080 Lounge is Considered Better
My friend, who has experienced both the old and new lounges, was very clear that the 080 Lounge is a significant upgrade. He mentioned that the seating capacity has been greatly increased, the decor is much more modern and luxurious, and the quality and variety of the food and beverage selection have been vastly improved.
The Current Lounge Experience
I recently used the 080 Domestic Lounge in Terminal 1 myself. The experience was excellent, with a wide buffet spread, a live cooking station, and a full-service bar. The space was large and well-designed with different seating zones. It is now considered one of the best domestic lounges in the country, far superior to the older BLR Lounge that used to exist.
