I’ve been using CRED for a while, but recently, I noticed some really shady behavior. With BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System) now in place, CRED doesn’t even need access to my email anymore. And yet, it keeps pushing for it.
Here’s What I Experienced:
Unnecessary Email Syncing – CRED has no reason to access my emails, but it still asks for permission. And if I log in multiple times, it sneakily starts syncing my emails.
Random Logouts – It logs me out, sometime very often. And every time I log back in, it nudges me again to connect my email. Feels like they’re trying to wear me down.
Trust Issues – In today’s world, I just don’t trust any company that aggressively grabs user data without a clear reason.
CRED might claim to protect user data, but their actions say otherwise. I’ve removed all access, and honestly, I think you should too.
I did some research and found out instead of giving access to your primary email address.
Lemme share a simple secret.
Create a new mail account, lets call it something like [email protected]
Now goto your gmail account, then filters, then create a new filter.
Title = statement. Contains = credit card statement statements Has attachment = true.
Then in the auto forward option, add the new email id in auto forward.
Now install your favourite rando app like cred or indmoney or whatever crap.
Give access to this new email account in that app.
Now, you can see all your statements in the new email + you can see your statements in the app while giving no access to your personal private primary email address.
