Why is CRED UPI refund stuck after failed credit card payment?

I recently tried paying my credit card bill through CRED UPI, but the payment failed. The amount was debited from my account, and the refund is still stuck. Why is my refund delayed, and how can I get it resolved?

When a credit card payment through CRED UPI fails, the amount may get debited from your bank account but the refund can take a little time to reflect. This usually happens because the transaction needs to be reconciled between your bank, NPCI (UPI network), and CRED before the refund is processed.

Why the Refund is Stuck:

• Bank-side delay – Refunds can take 3–5 business days to show in your account.

• UPI network lag – High transaction load or technical errors can slow down settlement.

• Reconciliation required – Since it involves a credit card biller, the reversal may take slightly longer than a normal UPI refund.

What You Can Do?

  1. Wait for the standard timeline – Most refunds are credited within 5 business days.

  2. Check your bank statement – Sometimes the amount is already reversed but not shown on CRED.

  3. Raise a support request – If the refund hasn’t arrived after 5 business days, contact CRED through the in-app support chat with your transaction ID.

  4. Contact your bank – If CRED confirms refund initiation, your bank can help trace the pending credit.
