Yesterday I left Gurgaon at 5:30 AM for a 9:15 AM Vistara departure, got stuck behind two trucks and a VIP convoy on NH-8, and still missed check-in by four minutes. The next flight cost me ₹12k and a day’s leave.
Is there a way that i can get this expense covered. Please help

So, only if the traffic delay was beyond your control and your policy lists it as a covered reason—like road-closure due to unexpected protest/accident, severe weather, or public-transport breakdowns
What you need to file a legit claim:
1.Proof it wasn’t your fault: FIR or traffic-police report of the accident/closure, news articles, metro delay certificate, cab breakdown receipt
2.Original & new ticket invoices, boarding-pass denial slip from the airline.
3.Policy wording—check the “Missed Departure” section; most Indian insurers
(e.g., ICICI Lombard, HDFC ERGO) cap payout at ₹10k–₹25k depending on the plan
Pro tip:If the airline itself cancelled the first leg of a connecting itinerary, skip the insurer and hit the airline for rebooking + compensation under DGCA rules
